Documentary by Bucks filmmaker coming to Phoenixville

Posted

Bucks County native Colleen Brady, director and producer of the feature-length documentary “Firebird: Built to Burn,” will screen her film in Phoenixville, Chester County.

The uplifting and unique documentary from Little Echo Productions takes place in Phoenixville, and delves into a year in the making of the beloved Firebird Festival, where a tight-knit community gathers every December to ignite a giant wooden phoenix.

Fueled by their rust belt spirit, a diverse group of volunteers persevere through pandemic restrictions, local government negotiations, and months of arduous building to orchestrate a cathartic come-back festival after their absence in 2020.

Told through intimate interviews and fly-on-the-wall verite, “Firebird: Built to Burn” is a wholesome look into an unconventional tradition with origins in Americana and universal themes.

The theatrical run in Phoenixville’s historic Colonial Theatre takes place from Nov. 29 to Dec. 14. For information, visit thecolonialtheatre.com.
