Tuesday’s rain didn’t dampen the Doylestown Friends Quaker Meeting’s commitment to abolishing nuclear weapons on the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
At a vigil at State and Main streets in Doylestown Borough, the Quakers distributed origami peace cranes, in a tradition begun by Hiroshima survivor Sadako Sasaki, who folded hundreds of cranes before her death at the age of 12 per a legend that suggested those who folded 1,000 cranes could have a wish granted.
