It seems impossible to know what is best regarding the proposed reworking of our legendary Washington Crossing Bridge. But there is a simple solution for now. This will alleviate accidents and also fear on the part of approaching drivers, which can be so real that I have friends who absolutely refuse ever to attempt to use it.
The bridge already has red light/green light installation: Simply use them. Make it a one-way bridge for so many minutes, then the other way.
Meanwhile all the decision-makers will not be under time constraints while thoroughly considering all options.
This interim solution is also useful in that it will not seriously alter Washington Crossing Park and Town, nor the New Jersey side.
Please suggest this to the powers that be.
