Gift giving is easy with local artist creations at AOY Small Works show

Posted

The members of AOY Art Center in Lower Makefield have been busy creating inspiration for the “Small Works Art Show and Sale,” opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.

This year, there will be a variety of art, framed and unframed, but nothing larger than 11 by 14 and everything under $200.

There are hundreds of original artworks available in a variety of formats: oils, acrylics, encaustics, mixed media, watercolor, and photography by over 60 AOY member artists. Look for works on canvas and works on paper by some of the area’s most popular local artists.

The show and sale includes AOY 3D artisans wares, offering more options for holiday gift giving. Look for handcrafted jewelry by Ann Brown, Penelope Plum Designs and Lara Ginzburg (of the PA Fine Crafts Guild) and Eileen Bielenberg. Find handcrafted ceramics and glass creations by Nancy Allen, ceramics by Christina Poruczynski and Angela Tong, hand felted wearable fashion accessories by Nelly Kouzmina and artisan jams by Bette’s Best Creations, and more.

“The Small Works Show is the only show we run where you can purchase the unique creations and take (them) with you for holiday giving,” said Bette Sovinee, coordinator. “But,” she added, “that also means that you’ll want to come to the opening reception or check out and shop our online gallery. The online sales gallery opens as of 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 so that you have the best selection to choose from.”

If purchasing online, AOY Art Center is offering the option of shipping 2D items at checkout. Remember, your purchase supports local artists and artisans.

The public is invited to join AOY for an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.

Gallery Hours are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. through Dec. 16.

The AOY Art Center is located at 949 Mirror Lake Road in Lower Makefield on the Patterson Farm. For information visit www.aoyarts.org.
