Students ready Perkasie veterans’ gravesites for Memorial Day

Posted

More than 200 seventh graders from Pennridge North Middle School spent about three hours doing community service at the Trinity Lutheran and St. Stephen’s cemeteries in Perkasie May 16.

Armed with maps and lists of veterans, the students placed flags, righted memorial markers and tidied up around the headstones.

Every May, on the weekend before Memorial Day, North Middle School students, teachers and administrators replenish the American flags at the graves of more than 300 Perkasie veterans.

“Honoring our fallen veterans by placing flags at their graves is a profound testament to the spirit of Pennridge and the dedication of our North Middle School seventh graders,” said Pennridge School District Superintendent Angelo Berrios in a statement. “As a veteran, it is profoundly moving to witness the enduring respect for those who served our nation, ensuring they are never forgotten.”
