Solebury holds the line on taxes in 2024 budget

Posted

The Solebury Township Board of Supervisors this month unanimously voted to adopt a 2024 township budget that calls for no tax hike next year.

The board also unanimously approved the 2024 real estate tax levy at 24.8102 mills. This includes General Fund Tax 8.5 mills, Fire Tax Fund 1.75 mills, Library Fund Tax .4910 mills, Debt Service Fund Tax .9402 mills, and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Fund Tax .9402 mills.

The supervisors also accepted the resignation of Jonathan Grossman from the Solebury Farm Committee

An undated Employee Handbook was approved unanimously.

Chair Mark Baum Baicker commended Township Manager Chris Garges and Assistant Township Manager Michele Blood on the lengthy handbook upgrade “since, on so many levels, it is critical to have an Employee Handbook that accurately reflects the policies and procedures of the township. Uncertainty is the enemy in this type of endeavor and, in my opinion, the update goes a long way toward making our policies and procedures much clearer.”

The township is in the process of digitizing its records and is therefore disposing of the original old copies.

A long list of old paper records was approved for disposal, the oldest dating back to 1994.

The board has set its reorganization meeting for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 and its 2024 priorities meeting for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4.
