In the May 9 article titled “Park’s name still eludes Solebury officials,” Solebury Township Supervisor John Francis is quoted as saying “a whole team of adults” on the Parks and Recreation Board “can’t figure out a name” for the park the township plans to build on the former flea market site on Route 202.
The Parks and Recreation Board, which I chair, was not charged with coming up with a name for the park. The Board of Supervisors asked us to evaluate two names it submitted to us: Solebury Central Park and Solebury Center Park.
The members of Parks and Rec declined to endorse either name.
The supervisors subsequently asked us to submit to them a preferred name. We plan to do so at our May 23 meeting, which is open to the public.
Dan Dupont, chair; Solebury Parks and Recreation Board
