Thomas C. Holst Jr.

Thomas C. Holst Jr., of Doylestown, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 5 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by parents Thomas C. Holst Sr.; Edith (Mortimer) Holst; and daughter Jennifer Holst-Diedrich. Tom is survived by Sherry, his wife of 31 years; son Dan (Joanna); sister Gretchen Gibbons (Neil); brother David (Nancy); and granddaughters Addison and Isabella, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom graduated from Abington High School in 1957 and continued to stay in touch with many of his high school friends. He attended Dean Junior College and Temple University and served in the Army Reserve from 1966 until 1972.

He worked in medical sales for the majority of his career.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman He shared a love of fly fishing with Sherry. They fished both locally and explored all the legendary trout streams of the West while traveling in their motor home. Fly fishing also beckoned them to Scotland, Costa Rica and Belize. When at home in Pennsylvania they cherished fishing the notable streams of Lycoming County.

Tom was also an avid golfer and enjoyed many days on the golf course testing his skills against the bunkers and sand traps. Tom and Sherry spent their winters at Sarasota Lakes RV Resort in Florida, relaxing in the retired lifestyle and the company of many friends through golf, tennis, horseshoes and potlucks.

Tom was a charter member of Buckingham Racquet Club, where he spent many happy years playing tennis with friends and having fun at club social gatherings. He was also an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, Bucks County Fish and Game Association, and the Lycoming Creek Anglers Club.

A memorial of Tom’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 18 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Doylestown. Visitation will be at 11 a.m.; the memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Guests are invited to a light luncheon following the service.
