Archbishop Wood’s season comes to end

It was the final curtain on an amazing year. The Archbishop Wood softball team saw its historic season come to an end with Monday’s 8-0 loss to District Seven champion Elizabeth Forward on Monday at Norlo Park Softball Complex in Fayetteville.

The final four went three of four in reaching the Final Four. Three of the four remaining area softball and baseball teams won their Thursday PIAA quarterfinal, earning them berths to the state semifinals on Monday.

The Pennridge Rams (18-2), the District One runner-up, topped District 12 champion La Salle 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19) in Wynnewood in the opening round of the PIAA 3A volleyball championships.
