The fate of the 119-year-old Washington Crossing Toll Supported Bridge remains uncertain. As Upper Makefield officials advance historic preservation efforts ultimately aimed at preventing an overhaul of the span, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) has hired an engineering firm to conduct a multi-year review process that’s intended to help decide if the bridge should be replaced.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has hired HDR Engineering Inc., of Philadelphia, to take up an environmental review process that could help determine whether the 119-year-old Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge should be replaced.

Spurred by concern over the future of the 119-year-old Washington Crossing Toll Supported Bridge, the historic preservation push is picking up steam in Upper Makefield.
