Over the last few days I was attending an annual horticultural trade show in Columbus, Ohio. I met up with some colleagues at The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, which has spearheaded a program — Pollinator Watch — to observe and document plant and pollinator interactions.

Even with the increased heat and humidity there are many perennials and shrubs in full flower this time of year that are great for attracting pollinators.

A stroll around any residential area is likely to reveal many viburnums in the landscape. Collectively, they have been a popular shrub for more than 100 years.
