Archbishop Wood’s season comes to end

It was the final curtain on an amazing year. The Archbishop Wood softball team saw its historic season come to an end with Monday’s 8-0 loss to District Seven champion Elizabeth Forward on Monday at Norlo Park Softball Complex in Fayetteville.

The final four went three of four in reaching the Final Four. Three of the four remaining area softball and baseball teams won their Thursday PIAA quarterfinal, earning them berths to the state semifinals on Monday.

Council Rock South (21-3) remains unbeaten all time in state playoff games. In their first-ever PIAA appearance Monday, the Golden Hawks topped District 11 champion Liberty 1-0 at DeSales.

Central Bucks East and Faith Christian baseball joined Quakertown and Council Rock South softball in punching their tickets to the PIAA tournament this week.
