Chalfont council appoints Kevin Flanagan to planning commission

Posted

Chalfont Borough Council interviewed and voted on applicants to join the borough’s planning commission during its meeting Tuesday.

This was to fill the empty seat left by former commission member Robert Milligan, who resigned in March.

After some deliberation, the council voted 7 to 1 to appoint Kevin Flanagan to the position. Flanagan was previously Chalfont Borough’s Judge of Elections. Dan Colbert was the only council member to vote against the appointment.

Charles Sigfried, another applicant for the position, was turned down, but not because he was unqualified. Rather, as council vice president Tracey Bowen explained, the council would rather consider him for a position on the EMS Board due to his background in finance.

Furthermore, Bowen explained that applicants with both Sigfried’s specific experience and availability are very hard to come by.

Though the EMS Board vote isn’t scheduled until next month’s council meeting, Sigfried is likely to be voted in, seeing as nearly all members of the council voiced being in favor of him.

Sigfried admitted it was not the result he was expecting but said he would be happy to serve the community in whatever way he is able.
