With voters apparently rejecting all the Republican candidates, Democrats are poised to sweep the five open seats on the Central Bucks School District, according to unofficial results Tuesday night.
If the totals released at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday hold, incumbent Karen Smith, Heather Reynolds, Dana Foley, Rick Haring and Susan Gibson are poised to form a Democratic majority on the nine-member board.
Running as CBSD Neighbors United, the slate of candidates said it intends to restore focus on students and staff, bring financial stability and end the divisiveness that’s dominated the fourth-largest district in the state for the past two and a half years.
Republicans Stephen Mass, incumbent Dana Hunter, Glenn Schloeffel, Aarati Martino and Tony Arjona appeared to fall short in their bids for the board, which has held a Republican majority for the past two and a half years.
With all precincts reporting, board president Hunter trailed Reynolds by more than 250 votes. Hers was the narrowest margin.
In Region 6, unofficial results put Haring ahead of Martino by more than 850 votes. In Region 8, Gibson appeared to beat Arjona handily, winning by more than 2,000 votes. In Region 3, Foley unofficially bested Schloeffel by 471 votes.
Only Region 1 had votes outstanding at 11:45 p.m. and, with one district (New Britain Borough) yet to post results, Mass trailed Smith by almost 400 votes.
