Loynd reaches 250/200 club

Posted

Delaware senior infielder Joey Loynd joined an exclusive club on Friday. With a bases loaded walk in game one of Friday’s Coastal Athletic Association doubleheader against UNC-Wilmington, Loynd collected his 200th career RBI at UD.

Loynd collected his 200th career hit late last season and his 250th career hit as a Blue Hen on May 3 against Monmouth. He becomes just the third Delaware player to have 250 hits and 200 career RBIs. Loynd, who had 69 career doubles at press time, had an outside chance to graduate as UD’s all-time leader in two-baggers (73).

He shares the single-season Blue Hen hits record with Jeff Trout, Mike’s father, with 98 in 2023. Loynd’s 80 RBIs in 2023 are the second most in a Blue Hen season.

Loynd, who led Central Bucks South to a state title game in 2019, was a first team All-CAA selection in 2022 and 2023. Last season, he also won two CAA Player of the Week awards. In the Liberty Bell Classic this past April, Loynd had a 10-RBI game against Lafayette where he homered and hit three doubles.
