Blue Jays fly to regionals, play for state title

New Jersey state champion Brooklawn rallied past Quakertown 5-4 to win the American Legion Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament opener Wednesday afternoon at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover, Maryland.

Brooklawn will play either Northeastern (Pennsylvania) or St. Mary’s (Maryland) Thursday evening. Quakertown will face the loser of the Northeastern-St. Mary’s contest Thursday afternoon in the double elimination tournament.

Last Wednesday, Quakertown dominated Northeastern 9-0 to capture its second consecutive Pennsylvania State American Legion championship.

The Mid-Atlantic tournament continues through Aug. 11.
