Morrisville police seek former owner of dogs abandoned in dog park

Posted

The tattered note taped to the sign at the Morrisville Dog Park explained why six dogs were roaming there unattended early Saturday morning.

“I rescued them from an old lady who has too many dogs. These are puppies from her dogs that keep getting pregnant,” the unsigned note stated.

It went on to say that the person talked the elderly person into giving up the young dogs before she ran out of dog food but the rescuer couldn’t keep the dogs in their apartment, so they were taken to the park.

Luckily, another visitor to the park at East Philadelphia and South Delmorr avenues alerted the Morrisville police.

Police posted on Facebook that three of the dogs had been adopted on the spot, and that the Bucks County SPCA had approved them going “to loving homes,” but the remaining three were taken to the SPCA in Lahaska.

“If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a furry friend, please contact them at 215-794-7425 today,” police said.

Police are still looking into the situation, a police spokesperson said. Anyone with information on the original owner is asked to contact Cpl. Lew Halas at LHalas@Morrisvillepolice.org or call 215-295-8112.

A spokesperson for the SPCA could not be reached for comment Monday morning.
