Posted

New Hope-Solebury High School honored five outstanding student-athletes who have committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level at a recent College Signing Day celebration.

The event recognized the athletic achievements of New Hope-Solebury seniors Brooks Saft, Tyler Corino, Tristan Cannon, Caroline Ives and Madelyn Thistlewaite, who have exemplified excellence throughout their high school careers.

Cannon has been a formidable force for Lions football on both offense and defense throughout his high school career. His speed, aggressiveness, and technical skill shined on defense, earning him recognition as Defensive Player of the Year in both his junior and senior years. Serving as a mentor to the team’s younger players, Cannon embodied the spirit of teamwork for the Lions. Cannon will continue his football career at the University of Rochester.

Corino, a four-year varsity baseball player, has been the Lions’ go-to pitcher when met with their toughest opponents. His commitment to the sport and relentless work ethic have made a significant impact on the New Hope-Solebury baseball program. Corino will continue his baseball career at Washington College.

Ives earned victory in the prestigious Hunter Horse 3-foot Division, classifying her as a national equestrian champion. Recently, she and her mare Junebug competed in Saratoga, winning the 3-foot Children’s Hunter Division, and she won the Derby last month in the 3-foot-3 Junior Hunter Division with her gelding Johnbug. Ives will join the equestrian team at Randolph Macon College with both of her horses.

Saft, another four-year starter on the Lions varsity baseball team, has demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership, earning recognition as a three-year All-Division first team member. Saft’s consistent performance, particularly in RBIs, has been instrumental to the team’s success over the past seasons. Saft has committed to continue his baseball career at Babson College.

Thistlewaite, a standout lacrosse and field hockey player for the Lions, has signed her National Letter of Intent to play Division I Women’s Lacrosse at Bucknell University. During her senior year, Thistlewaite reached an extraordinary milestone in girls lacrosse, reaching her 200th career goal.
