ArtWRKD to feature Kevin Von Holt and Jae Martin

Posted

ArtWRKD 126-128 S. State St., Newtown, hosts two solo shows, beginning Friday, June 21.

“Fragmented,” a solo show by Kevin Von Holt, will be on view June 21 to July 6, beginning with an artist talk at 5 p.m. June 21 and an opening reception the same evening from 6-9 p.m.

“Love Wins,” a solo show by Jae Martin, will be on view June 21 to July 6, beginning with an opening reception 6-9 June 21 and an artist talk and demonstration at 7 p.m. June 21.

A Brooklyn-bred Pop Artist now based in Philadelphia, Martin’s work is a reflection of the energy of city life, infused with vibrant hues inspired by street art. He’s a self-taught artist who combines the elements of graffiti art into his work. His pieces are unique and capture the fleeting emotions and thoughts of the moment.

“My work,” Von Holt said, “explores the relationship between myself and the discourse in current culture. With influences spawned from the eyes of ADHD and anxiety, new synergies are synthesized from both frantic and deliberate dialogues...

“As intermittent derivatives become clarified through frantic and critical practice, I am then left with a clue to the complexity within my own soul.”

Next up at the gallery is “Resilience Through Color” by Marc and Janice Schimsky, which explores the bold use of color, both in abstractions and notions of figurative work, July 12-27.

Following is “Sheer Joy,” a solo show by hosiery artist Lucine, an artist in residence at ArtWRKD. It features two developing collections, “Ripping the Seams” and “Liberation,” Aug. 3-17.

Admission and parking are free. For information, contact 215-377-9766 or artcurator@artwrkd.com.
