October 2023 fundraising season was Main St.’s largest to date

Posted

Main St., an experience-based, community-driven nonprofit dedicated to local breast cancer patients has concluded its sixth – and largest – fundraising season to date.

Through the support of local residents and businesses from participating towns and destinations, including Newtown, Carversville, Doylestown, Peddler’s Village, Perkasie, New Hope, Shops at Valley Square, Dublin Town Center and Thompsonville (Thompson car dealerships), Main St. will donate $138,000 to benefit local breast cancer patients across Bucks County.

The nonprofit’s presenting sponsor, The Thompson Organization, along with 62 sponsors and 91 partners propelled the success of the October 2023 season.

The funds generated by Main St. have helped create and fund impactful programs including: cold-capping, out-of-pocket expense relief (paying patient’s household bills), integrative services through Kin Wellness and Support Center and Unite for Her, home food deliver, comfort “care bags” for newly diagnosed patients, treatment transportation and the purchase of new state-of-the-art infusion chairs at Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham and Doylestown Health Cancer Institute.

“Main St. was designed to be powered by the local community. Seeing the way people and business embrace and engage with us is overwhelmingly gratifying,” said Keith Fenimore, founder and executive director of Main St. “The funds donated will support the programs we have in place that continue to bring direct relief to our breast cancer community. I speak with, and hear from, the patients we support regularly and they are so appreciative of the work we do, but also, they say they get peace-of-mind knowing they are not alone and comfort when they see the entire community working together on their behalf.”

The nonprofit was the recipient of many local community and business driven fundraising events held throughout the month of October on their behalf. Main St.’s Title Sponsor, The Thompson Organization donated over $30,000. Local schools hosted Pink Outs, contributing thousands of dollars. Independent businesses hosted open houses, sip n’ shops and created various proceed split special offers and residents across the County made personal contributions.

In a show of communal togetherness, several retailers on State Street in historic Newtown joined Giovanni’s Fine Fashions and Opus Elite Real-Estate as they launched the first Mr. Bucks County Competition, raising $65,190 for Main St. This donation stands as the single largest donation in the nonprofit’s history.
