Rams triumph; Grenda keeps streak intact

Posted

The Pennridge Rams (5-0-1) are not sneaking up on anyone this fall. Returning nearly every starter from a state finalist team will get people’s attention.

Nonetheless, Pennridge’s notoriety extends outside of the Keystone State. On Saturday, the United Soccer Coaches ranked Pennridge second in their national poll.

The extra attention did not phase the Rams on Monday night in Perkasie. Liv Grenda extended her scoring streak to six straight games as Pennridge concluded its run against all three Central Bucks teams with a 5-1 win over Central Bucks South.

Two Division I recruits connected as Tori Angelo (Seton Hall) assisted on Casey Malone’s (College of Charleston) goal midway through the first half to put Pennridge up 1-0 on a strong CB South side. It was the first goal of the season for Malone, who’s primarily been a defender at Pennridge.

Riley Karpinski equalized it for South (2-2) late in the first with her second goal in three games. But Grenda (Dayton) scored five minutes into the first half and Addy Mills added a third Pennridge goal 11 minutes later. Grenda’s seven goals lead the team.

Sophie Craig assisted on Caitlyn Peace’s late goal and added one of her own to close the scoring.
