Poignant and patriotic, Doylestown marks Memorial Day

Posted

Thousands of Bucks Countians gathered in Doylestown Monday to watch what, according to the borough, is the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the United States.

The day began with flag-raising ceremonies at 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the old courthouse and War Memorial Field, respectively.

The parade stepped off at 10 a.m. from Central Bucks West High School and traveled along West Court Street, West State Street, Main Street and East Court Street, ending at Doylestown Cemetery.

There a noon wreath-laying ceremony drew the scheduled events to a close.
