Prepare to embark on an epic adventure as Town and Country Players in Buckingham presents “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen.
“She Kills Monsters” tells the story of Agnes Evans (Caitlin Davies) as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her sister, Tilly (Autumn Bradley).
However, when Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she is catapulted into a journey of discovery, action-packed adventure, and the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge.
In the high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
Directed by Julie Lynn Massa, and Produced by Jenny McNiven, “She Kills Monsters” is filled with heartfelt connections and epic battles. While comedic and energetic, the show also battles with themes of grief and self-awareness.
According to Davies, “Agnes uses this game as therapy and goes through the stages of grief as she finally allows herself to mourn her sister… It’s a heartbreaking story that’s hidden by a bunch of sick fight choreography.”
Kashfara Saba (who plays Kaliope) adds, “Dustin [Karrat], our fight choreographer, has been very helpful when it comes to getting familiar with the weaponry and making sure we don’t get hurt. I’m also excited for the audience to see how they turn out!”
