Posted

Adam Jonathan Soumahoro, 18, of Jenkintown, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief, June 6, in connection with an incident that occurred in September of 2022 at the Fred Beans Hyundai dealership on Swamp Road, Plumstead.

This was a joint investigation between the Plumstead Township Police Department and the Abington Township Police Department. Soumahoro was charged with the theft of a 2015 Hyundai Sonata that was parked on the lot, along with criminal mischief to at least two other vehicles that he and his accomplices damaged while attempting to steal those vehicles from the parking lot,” police said.

Law enforcement from the Philadelphia region are aware of a recent Tik Tok trend where youths are responsible for challenging other youths to steal certain Kia and Hyundai model vehicles.

Soumaharo was arraigned before District Judge Gary Gambardella, who set bail at $250,000 unsecured bail. Soumahoro was awaiting his preliminary hearing.
