Apple Studios to close Richlandtown Road next week in East Rockhill, Haycock

Posted

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Apple Studios plans to close Richlandtown Road in East Rockhill and Haycock townships, for filming.

This is not the first time there has been a road closure in the area for Apple Studios, which has been on location filming a new series. An old, dilapidated and long-vacant farmhouse on Bedminster Road in the Ottsville section of Tinicum Township is being used in the pilot episode, according to Amy Leigh Johnson, Apple’s unit publicist.

The house in Upper Bucks County will be at the center of the action, when the series follows a group of Philly friends who pose as DEA agents to rob a house in the countryside.

In the show, when things don’t go well, there’s a need to blow the place up – a plan didn’t really fly with local authorities, said Richard Schilling, township manager in Bedminster. “There was too much lead and asbestos involved,” he said, “so they built a plywood addition that they can destroy.”

During next week’s road closure, motorists are advised of the following travel restriction: Tuesday, March 14 through Thursday, March 16, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Richlandtown Road will be closed between Thatcher Road and Covered Bridge Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Richlandtown Road, Clymer Road, Axe Handle Road and Thatcher Road.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
