Baseball team to honor local girl in battle against leukemia through fundraising, dedicated game

Posted

The Homers for Hope men’s baseball team will host a game on Sunday, June 30 to recognize Aly Reed, who is an 11-year-old going through her second fight against leukemia.

The team is part of the Homers for Hope nonprofit organization and competes in the 35+ BuxMont MSBL, with all players on the team having dedicated their season to fundraising on behalf of the Reed family in an effort to help pay their bills during this difficult time.

The game will see the Homers for Hope Yankees take on the Northampton Angels at Hanusey Park, 4757 Gordon Road, Doylestown, and a pregame ceremony is planned beginning at 9:15 a.m. The Reed family will be in attendance, and several previous families who were assisted by Homers for Hope are expected to be there as well. The pregame event will include Aly being presented with an official jersey, a ceremonial first pitch, and an unveiling of how much money has been raised to help support the family. The game is open to the public and the community is invited to attend to cheer on Aly and the team.

Donations will be accepted at the game, or can be made online at: https://give.classy.org/Reed2024.

At the game, the team will also be collecting gently used and new baseball and softball equipment on behalf of Pitch in for Baseball. After the game, Station Tap House in Doylestown will also host a “Dine & Donate” with a portion of all food tabs to be donated to help the Reed’s when mentioning Homers for Hope.
