“Boutique” hotel planned for old Doylestown borough hall

The Doylestown Borough Historical and Architectural Review Board will be hearing Thursday about proposed plans to demolish the former borough hall at 57. W. Court St. and build a "boutique" hotel and restaurant.

The meeting will be held at the borough's offices at 10 Doyle St. It begins at 7:30 p.m.

The HARB makes recommendations to borough council on the advisability of issuing Certificates of Appropriateness, for all exterior building changes, additions, new construction, demolition, and signs within the borough’s designated historic district.

The nine-member volunteer board generally works to ensure that exterior changes are compatible with the general historic and architectural features of the historic district.

Doylestown Borough relocated its administrative offices to its new Doyle Street building early last year after selling the Court Street building to Larry Thompson, a borough resident and owner of several key Doylestown properties, including the Lenape Building at the intersection of Main and State streets and McCaffrey’s Simply Fresh market on West State Street.
