Bucks County Bar Foundation honors scholarship recipients

Posted

The Bucks County Bar Foundation (BCBF) hosted its annual Scholarship Reception Celebration May 15 at the Bucks County Bar Association.

The event brought together legal professionals, students, and their families to recognize the outstanding recipients of the 2024 BCBF scholarships.

This year, the foundation received nearly 30 applications from highly qualified and deserving students across Bucks County. After a thorough review process by the Scholarship Committee, the BCBF awarded 10 scholarships, divided equally between the Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship and the William Penn Scholarship.

The Thomas E. Mellon, Jr. Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship to any candidate attending a four-year liberal arts education program who has shown extraordinary commitment to public service and/or community service.

The William Penn Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for the post-high school education of students interested in pursuing a career in law or a law-related field who have also shown commitment to public service or community service.

The recipients of the 2024 Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship were:

Sophia Compitello, graduating from Council Rock High School South; Isabella Genuardi, graduating from New Hope-Solebury High School; Sukania Jacquet, graduating from Conwell-Egan Catholic High School; Teniola Onilari, graduating from Bensalem High School; and Bryanna Ramirez, graduating from Harry S. Truman High School.

The recipients of the 2024 William Penn Scholarship were: Axton Berry, graduating from George School; Leah Brouda, graduating from Central Bucks High School South; Reed Finch, graduating from New Hope-Solebury High School; Morgan Hammond, graduating from Pennridge High School; and Jack Swartley, graduating from Central Bucks High School West.

The Bar Foundation is financed through numerous community events held in support of these two scholarships as well as individual donors from across Bucks County. Once again, the Bar Foundation was able to provide $10,000 in scholarships.
