Library branches host summer programs

Each week of Summer Quest, Bucks County Free Library’s Quakertown and Perkasie branches will introduce young readers to performers and educators.

Registration is not required for any of the programs. Space is limited and available first come, first served. The schedule is as follow:

– Magician Ran’D Shine: Wednesday, June 28 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch and 3:30 p.m. at Menlo Park’s pavilion. Ran’D Shine’s shows are full of mind-boggling magic, illusions and laughs. These shows are open to all and ideal for children ages 5 to 10.

– The DaVinci Science Center: Saturday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 5 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch; Wednesday, July 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Menlo Park’s pavilion. Drawing inspiration from “Grossology,” a popular children’s book by Sylvia Branzei, children ages 5 to 13 will learn how their bodies digest food and excrete waste.

– Eyes of the Wild: Saturday, July 8 at 1 p.m. at the Sellersville Theater; Wednesday, July 12 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch and 3:30 p.m. at Menlo Park’s pavilion. An exotic animal rescue that cares for over 175 animals from 60 species, Eyes of the Wild will lead an interactive educational program with some of their animals. This event is ideal for children ages 5 to 10.

– Strongman Eric Moss: Saturday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 19 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch and 3:30 p.m. at Menlo Park’s pavilion. World record-holder and modern-day strongman Eric Moss will test his strength against steel, chains and more. This event is ideal for children ages 5 and older.

– NJ Snake Man: Saturday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at the Sellersville Theater; Wednesday, July 26 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch and 3:30 p.m. at Menlo Park’s pavilion. Budding herpetologists will get to meet and interact with some of NJ Snake Man’s snakes and other reptiles.

– Music Play Patrol: Saturday, July 29 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch; Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Quakertown branch and 3:30 p.m. at Menlo Park’s pavilion. Music educators from Philadelphia’s Music Play Patrol will help children of all ages explore different rhythms and create their own unique music.

– Li Liu Acrobat: Saturday, Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Sellersville Theater. Acrobat Li Liu will showcase her hand balancing, ribbon dancing, plate spinning and foot juggling skills. This event is ideal for children ages 5 and older.

The Quakertown branch of Bucks County Free Library is located at 401 W. Mill St. in Quakertown Borough. Menlo Park’s pavilion is located at Park and Arthur avenues in Perkasie borough. The Sellersville Theatre is located at 24 W. Temple Ave. in Sellersville.
