Bucks County Opportunity Council kicks off Back-to-School Drive

Posted

Bucks County Opportunity Council, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing poverty is asking for community support for its 24th annual Back-to-School Drive.

Last year’s drive provided school supplies and funds for 160 students, helping them go to school with their heads held high and with the tools they needed to start the school year right.

Danielle Bush, volunteer and community connections manager from BCOC said, “If you have been shopping, you have already seen the school supplies lining the isles. For our families, who are struggling to become self-sufficient, this is an extremely difficult time filled with high anxiety and stress, because they simply are unable to afford the supplies their children need.”

BCOC is looking for sponsors to help their clients with a minimum of $100 donation per child. Preferred donations are in the form of gift cards, so they can shop together as a family, however, you can purchase and donate a backpack, school supplies, and a lunch bag. Drop off your donations to any of BCOC’s four office locations: Bristol, Warminster (Serving Bucks Together), Doylestown, or Quakertown anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The deadline for donations is Friday, Aug. 16.
