Chalfont resident to lead New Hope library

Posted

Sam O. Pharo, of Chalfont, on Tuesday stepped into the role of executive director of The Free Library of New Hope & Solebury.

Pharo, who most recently served as branch manager of the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library in Montgomery County, replaces Connie Hillman, who stepped down at the end of 2023.

“Sam Pharo has a great enthusiasm for the role of libraries in the 21st century and a strong background in directing staff, working with volunteers and overseeing programs for community members of all ages,” said Stacy Smith, president of the New Hope library’s board of trustees, in a statement.

Pharo has a master’s degree in Library Information Science from Rutgers, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in history.

“Working in a community library is in Sam’s DNA,” added trustee Julia Klossner. “His mother served as a community librarian for over 30 years.”
