Event will take guests back in time to relive Newtown memories

Posted

Take a trip down memory lane at the first-ever “Night of Newtown Memories” Friday, Sept. 30, at the historic Newtown Theatre.

Hosted by Newtown Borough resident Marty Moss-Coane, host and executive producer of WHYY-FM’s “Radio Times,” the event will start at 7 p.m. with a community cocktail hour (cash bar) and socializing.

The program at 8 p.m. will follow a lively talk-show format with Moss-Coane moderating a group of special local guests who will share their Newtown memories on a variety of topics, including business, entertainment, education, and social life.

This special evening is presented by the Newtown Theatre and the Newtown Historic Association. The night will serve as a kickoff to the Historic Association’s annual Market Day, which is being held the next day – Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for the public and $15 for members of the theater and the historic association. Proceeds will benefit both non-profit organizations.

“This event will transport guests back to Newtown’s past through the eyes of those who lived it,” said Andrew Smith, executive director of the Newtown Theatre. “We think it will be a very special and very memorable night.”

“A Night of Newtown Memories will serve as a great complement to our annual Market Day, which will be held the next day on the streets around the Court Inn,” said Barry Fleck, president of the Newtown Historic Association. “Newtown has a rich history, and this event will bring it alive for guests.”

The theater is located at 120 N. State St. in Newtown Borough. For information and tickets, visit TheNewtownTheatre.com/events.
