Posted

Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) welcomes internationally recognized champion for the nonprofit sector, Joan Garry, to Bucks County on March 15, at Bucks County Community College’s Zlock Performing Arts Center from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Sponsored by Comcast, Garry will discuss the “Key Attributes of Thriving Nonprofits” during her keynote address.

“We are thrilled that the ‘Dear Abby’ of the nonprofit sector is coming to Bucks County,” said Dr. Tobi Bruhn, FCP’s executive director. “This is an excellent professional development opportunity for nonprofit leaders, team and board members, and everybody who seeks inspiration during challenging times in the sector.”

Through her blog, podcast and book, “Joan Garry’s Guide to Nonprofit Leadership,” Garry constantly advocates for the success of nonprofits, large and small. As a columnist for the Chronicle of Philanthropy, contributor to Harvard Business Review and Forbes Magazine, among others, Garry is a preeminent thought leader on the role of the nonprofit sector in society.

She is also the founder of the Nonprofit Leadership Lab, the online educational and community portal she leads for nonprofit board and staff leaders.

Garry began her career in 1981 as part of the management team that launched MTV, followed by a tenure as an executive at Showtime Networks. In 1997, she left the corporate world and became the executive director of GLAAD, one of the largest gay rights organizations in the United States.

Garry’s conversation with Bucks County’s nonprofit community is part of #FCPresents, a new series launched by FCP last year to strengthen the sector by inviting thought leaders to share their expertise. Tickets to the event are $25 per person. For information and to register, visit fcpartnership.org/workshops/fcpresents.
