Hilltown names new township manager

Posted

In looking for a new township manager, the Hilltown Board of Supervisors said they were searching for a professional with the skills to do about four different jobs.

Supervisors believe they’ve found the perfect multi-talented individual in Deanna Ferry.

At a public meeting on July 22, the three-person board of supervisors that locally governs the township appointed Ferry as Hilltown’s new township manager. She replaces Lorraine Leslie, who retired earlier this year.

Supervisor Chair Caleb Torrice shared that Ferry is the right choice for the role because of her financial, technological, organizational, and government policy acumen. He noted that she holds a doctorate in public administration from West Chester University.

“Deanna also stands out for her personal touch,” Torrice said.

Ferry was previously deputy director of the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County. Other past roles include being a program manager focused on economic development for Bucks County.

In effect, the township manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the municipality. The manager has their hand on everything from the township’s finances to public works, making the position of critical importance.

Leslie officially retired in early 2024, after having started with Hilltown in 1992. Her roles included finance director and township manager/treasurer over the years.

Leslie was a key part of a township leadership team whose hard work was a reason that Hilltown has not increased the local municipal property tax rate for 13 straight years.
