Four men have been extradited back to Bucks County in connection with a distraction theft at Marshalls and Home Goods in Plumstead Township.
Police identified the men as Cristobal Yanezdupuy, 19, Juan Pablo Aravena-Aguirre, 35, Byron Alejandro Contreras-Fuentes, 25, and Jaime Molina Olea, 58.
The theft occurred at approximately 4 p.m. Aug. 22, police said. The investigation found the four men and one woman worked in unison to distract a customer and steal her wallet. The suspects immediately started using the victim’s credit cards, attempting to make an online purchase in the amount of $1,700, and then at the Warrington Walmart for another $1,000.
With the assistance of store video surveillance, LPR (License Plate Recognition) Cameras, and facial recognition, the suspects were identified, and arrest warrants were issued for Aravena-Aguirre, Priscila Christiansen, Contreras-Fuentes, Molina Olea and Yanezdupuy, all citizens of Chile. The suspects were charged with theft, receiving stolen property, identity theft and access device fraud, all felonies of the 3rd degree.
On Sept. 1, the suspects were taken into custody without incident by the South Hackensack Police Department and transported to Bergen County Prison, where they awaited extradition to Bucks County.
They were arraigned by District Judge Gary Gambardella on Sept. 14. Bail for each defendant was set at $150,000, 10% and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 25.
