Good Shepherd Book Sale returns first weekend in June

Posted

The annual Used Book Sale at Good Shepherd Church, 1634 Hilltown Pike in Hilltown, at the intersection of Route 152, returns Saturday through Monday, June 1-3.

Once again, there will be well over 40,000 books, CD’s, audiobooks, and DVD’s, all donated and in great condition, from which to choose. Hardback books will be $2, trade (large) paperbacks and DVD’s will $1. CD’s will be 50 cents. Mass market (smaller, pocket size) paperbacks will be 50 cents each, or 3-for-$1. Children’s books remain priced at 25 cents each.

One of the trademarks of the Good Shepherd book sale is the amount of sorting that is done for the various topics.

As always, the selection is pre-screened for condition, is smoke-free, and is neatly arranged. Fiction is set up alphabetically by author, with separate areas for Large Print, Anthologies, Foreign Language, Poetry/Plays, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Romance.

There is also a very large assortment of Classics and Literature, so come prepared with your summer reading list.

Nonfiction is sorted into categories such as History, Cooking, Health, Sports, Gardening, Home Repair, Decorating, Needlecrafts, General Nonfiction, and, of course, Religion.

An important change this year is that the church is asking large-volume customers, such as book dealers, to leave their carts, trolleys, wagons, bins, and totes home.

The sale will go from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 3, noon-5 p.m. Sunday, June 4 (the building is otherwise busy on Sunday morning!), and 8 a..m. to 5 p.m. Monday June 5. Monday will be a “Bag Sale.” Customers can fill a standard paper grocery bag with anything that will fit for $5.
