The Healing Consciousness Foundation of Bucks County will host its fourth annual Humor for Healing Comedy Event Nov. 17, at Barley Sheaf Farm.
Last year’s sold-out comedy show raised over $70,000, which provided much-needed healing services for breast cancer survivors in Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties.
This event is hosted by founder and president, Bucks County’s own celebrated breast cancer surgeon and healer, Dr. Beth DuPree. The HCF raises funds to provide holistic healing services and education to women and men undergoing treatment for breast cancer. These services are not covered by traditional insurance, yet profoundly impact the patient.
“When I founded the HCF almost 15 years ago,” Dr. DuPree stated, “holistic healing such as reiki therapy, yoga, meditation and even nutritional counseling (among others) were viewed with skepticism by the medical community in treating cancers. Today, while many of these services are not covered under traditional insurance, we now know based upon clinical trials that these treatments are instrumental in the healing process.”
For the first time ever, this year’s event will be staged live at the five-star historic Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm in Holicong. Back by popular demand is Emcee Steve Young, who heads the roster of this year’s first-class comedy talent. Performers include actress/comedian and regular on the “Tonight Show,” Cathy Ladman. Local Philadelphia comic Jay Black, and New Jersey’s own Buddy Harris also head the line-up. An auction of prizes—from travel, fashion, culinary and spa experiences is included.
