High school student to host food drive for FSA at Giant in Langhorne

Posted

Family Service Association of Bucks County announced that 17-year-old Romeo Angelini, a senior at Neshaminy High School, will host a food drive this Sunday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., outside Giant Grocery Store in Langhorne.

“This event promises to be a heartwarming community effort by an incredible kid to support the Family Service food pantry.”

Romeo has been dedicated to giving back to the community since he was 10 years old. For the past seven years, he has celebrated his birthday by organizing a food drive and donating the collected items to the Family Service Association of Bucks County’s food pantry.

His unwavering commitment to helping those in need was recognized last October when he was honored at the Family Service Association’s annual golf outing. In acknowledgment of his support and generosity, Romeo received the Susan N. Altomari Champion for Youth Award. This prestigious award is given annually to individuals who positively impact the lives of youth in Bucks County through Family Service initiatives.

With this December marking his 18th birthday, Romeo wants to make an even bigger impact. He spoke to management at Giant Grocery Store in Langhorne, where he works, with the idea of hosting a large-scale food drive outside the store. Giant Food eagerly embraced the idea and agreed to support the initiative.

In addition to collecting food donations, Giant will be selling hot dogs and pretzels to customers, and a face painter will be present to entertain children. All proceeds from these activities will be donated to Family Service Association of Bucks County.

Notable guests, including Sen. Frank Farry and State Rep. Joe Hogan, are expected to make an appearance around 10:30 a.m. to personally thank Romeo for his contributions to the community.

The Family Service Association of Bucks County encourages community members to join Romeo in his mission to support local families in need. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted throughout the event.
