Ilya Lerner’s show on view at Swan Boat Gallery

Posted

Swan Boat Gallery presents a show of paintings by Russian-born artist Ilya Lerner, on view until Aug. 10.

Lerner describes himself as Realist/Impressionist painter with a Contemporary twist. His style incorporates and amalgamates elements of both traditional (strong draftsmanship, use of Old Masters painting techniques) and contemporary (gestural painting marks, emphasized color, vivid texture) approaches to picture-making.

The show, at the Contemporary art gallery and cultural experience, located at 69 Bridge St., Lambertville, N.J., includes plein-air landscapes, still-lifes and narrative paintings from different periods.

Lerner started his art education in Moscow and finalized it by receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His artwork has been the subject of more than 20 solo shows, including a major retrospective at the Roberson Museum in Binghamton, N.Y., and has been featured in more than 50 group exhibitions.

He won prestigious awards and grants and was invited to several American and European art residencies. Lerner taught at colleges and art schools throughout the United States, and his paintings are included in important public, corporate, and private collections. More information about the artist is available at www.lernerart.com.

The gallery can be reached at 609- 566-4022 or found online.
