La Fiocco concludes its 2023-2024 season with “Purcell’s London”

La Fiocco, the Bucks County baroque ensemble, concludes its season with “Purcell’s London,” a concert celebrating music from the Age of William and Mary.

The program will feature Henry Purcell overtures, songs and ayres for the London theater, and his “Raise the Voice,” a “magnificent” ode for St. Cecilia. Works by other composers of the period, including Daniel Purcell, John Blow, and Godfrey Keller, will also be presented.

“Purcell’s London” will feature guest artists Laura Heimes, soprano, Stephen Ng, tenor, and Brian Ming Chu, baritone. The musicians, playing on period instruments, include Claire Smith Bermingham, baroque violin; Nathan Bishop, baroque violin; Mark Zaki, baroque viola; Donna Fournier, baroque cello and viola da gamba; Owen Davitt, recorder; Daniel Boring, theorbo and baroque guitar; Benjamin T. Berman, harpsichord; and Lewis R. Baratz, artistic director, recorder, and harpsichord.

Performances will take place at Christ Congregation, 50 Walnut Lane, Princeton, N.J., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, and at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury, at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2.
