Lincoln Tech trade school coming to Middletown

Posted

A major for-profit provider of post high school training for in-demand jobs should be up and running in Middletown relatively soon.

At its Wednesday, July 26 meeting, the township zoning hearing board unanimously granted two variances clearing the way for Parsippany, N.J.-based Lincoln Educational Services to locate one of its Lincoln Tech trade schools at the former ITT building at 311 Veterans Highway (Route 413). The new school would be very close to and share access off and on Veterans Highway with the BluePearl emergency veterinary hospital.

The variances granted Wednesday night will allow an educational use in the CS (Shopping Center) zoning district, and an educational use within a floodplain.

Since the new school will require extensive interior renovations to the existing 86,200 square-foot building but no substantial exterior work, it will not require land development approval from the township board of supervisors, Lincoln representatives said. The company's Vice-President of Real Estate and Risk Management Kimberly Trignano estimated the Middletown location would be open somewhere around the end of 2024.

Lincoln Educational Services operates 23 Lincoln Tech trade schools in 14 states. The one in Middletown will provide approximately one-year courses in automotive technology, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), electrical and electronic technology and welding, Trignano said. She added courses will run in three shifts from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and that about 50 to 75 Lincoln instructors and other employees will be providing training for approximately 350 students at any given time.

This kind of jobs training is in extremely high demand that has skyrocketed since the coronavirus pandemic, according to Trignano. For information, including tuition costs, visit lincolntech-usa.com.
