Solebury Township resident and inaugural winner of the Lambda Literary J. Michael Samuel Prize, Jobert E. Abueva, will present his new book, “Boy Wander – A Coming of Age Memoir” (Rattling Good Yarns Press) from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, at the ACME Screening Room in Lambertville, N.J.
“Boy Wander” is an intimate portrait of the nomadic author’s upbringing and awakening as seen through the eyes of a Filipino child to those of a Tokyo teenager and finally as a young man arriving in America.
“This book project kicked-off when I arrived in Bucks County in 2000,” said Abueva. “I worked on it on and off while working full-time though it was the pandemic that offered the time and space to finally finish the manuscript. And I was fortunate to land an independent publisher.”
The event includes a video presentation on Abueva as part of the New Hope Celebrates History Artists & Authors Speakers Series. A wine reception and book signing will follow a discussion and Q&A. For tickets: acmescreeningroom.org.
