Quakertown rapist sentenced to state prison

Posted

A Bucks County judge sentenced a 60-year-old man to serve 18 ½ to 47 years in state prison for the repeated rape and sexual assaults of two girls in a Quakertown home.

Matias J. Martinez Morales, formerly of Quakertown, was convicted by a Bucks County jury in late January of one count each of rape by forcible compulsion, rape of a child, indecent assault by forcible compulsion, and terroristic threats and two counts each of unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, and corruption of minors.

Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley handed down the state prison sentence on Tuesday, May 28, and also sentenced Martinez Morales to five years of probation. Finley also ordered that Martinez Morales have no contact with the victims.

The Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board determined that Martinez Morales did not meet the criteria to be declared a sexually violent predator, but still must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

This investigation by the Quakertown Borough Police Department began in November 2022. That month, Quakertown Detective Ryan Naugle received a child welfare report indicating that a 16-year-old girl was raped by an adult man when she was 4.

During a forensic interview conducted by the Child Advocacy Center, the victim reported that Matias Martinez Morales raped her several times and threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone. A second victim was interviewed by the Child Advocacy Center and reported that she was sexually assaulted multiple times by Martinez Morales when she was 6 years old.
