Mercantile Home brings squirrels to U.S. Open

Posted

The 122nd United States Open Championship in Brookline, Mass., will feature 122 yellow ceramic squirrels from Mercantile Home in downtown Easton to celebrate this year’s golf championship.

“We are thrilled to contribute our critters to an event with the reputation and history of the U.S. Open,” said Mercantile Home co-owner Ron Morris.

Mercantile Home has been making colorful critters in downtown Easton for over 14 years. Each creation is handmade and assigned a number that is recorded in the studio “birth record.”

“We love this ceramic squirrel and are excited to be working with a community-centered, creative business like Mercantile Home to create and offer this special, limited edition retail offering to our guests. It makes for a fun, unique, and memorable gift from the event,” said Katie Pila, director of championship merchandise. The 122nd U.S. Open logo is a yellow and green squirrel holding an acorn.

The squirrels are marked with “122nd U.S. Open” and numbered as a limited edition “1/122,” etc.

Morris adds “It was so fun creating this special handmade batch of critters. We can’t wait for our little mascots of joy to find homes with fans of the U.S. Open.”
