New wedding venue gets conditional use approval in Wrightstown

Posted

A new wedding venue is one step closer to operating in Wrightstown.

At a public meeting on Monday, Feb. 6, the Wrightstown Board of Supervisors granted conditional use approval to Michael Sullivan to operate a wedding/event venue in an existing barn on a 1.26-acre property at 2197 Second Street Pike. The barn is currently about 5,900 square feet.

The approval came with a number of conditions. The barn can be used for indoor events, but no events can occur outside on the property with the exception of a wedding ceremony. Outdoor music is not allowed – again, with the exception of a wedding ceremony.

Under the conditional use approval, the venue can host events by appointment only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Events must conclude by 11 p.m. Only one may occur per day.

The venue will not have a kitchen. Rather, food will be prepared offsite and brought in. Production of alcoholic beverages onsite is barred.

Among other conditions, parking is allowed only on the premises. To ensure that guests do not park at neighboring medical offices, the venue must provide a parking attendant on Friday and Saturday during the times when the offices are open.

Sullivan has also submitted a land development application in connection with the project and will need approval on that too. The board deferred action on land development until at least its Feb. 27 meeting as it engages in further discussion with Sullivan’s attorney, Joseph Blackburn, according to Supervisor Chairman Chester Pogonowski.

In other news, it appears Vince’s Pizzeria & Taproom will be able to continue to host outdoor dining at its 573 Durham Road location.

The establishment opened in 2019, officials said. When COVID-19 struck, the township gave Vince’s limited emergency approval to host patrons outside under a tent amid virus concerns. In November 2022, the township notified Vince’s owners, Heather and Ed Murphy, that the emergency use permission would be coming to an end.

Still, patrons liked the outdoor dining option and the Murphys want to continue with it – and asked for township permission to do so.

Supervisors granted that approval with certain conditions. They include: outdoor dining will occur in the location previously used during the pandemic; Vince’s will construct a knee wall around the dining area to protect diners and delineate the area; the business must continue to maintain 38 parking spaces on-site, including handicapped parking spaces; Vince’s must provide for valet parking in an overflow area located at Carousel Garden on Friday and Saturday nights; and, among other things, a maximum of 56 patrons (indoor and outdoor) is permitted as licensed by the Board of Health.
