Peddler’s Village presents summer sand sculpture event

Posted

For the second consecutive year, Peddler’s Village in Lahaska presents a major summer-long event featuring large sand sculptures.

As part of this year’s program, “Stories in Sand,” Peddler’s Village will award six overnight packages to guests who register on PeddlersVillage.com to win, after booking an overnight stay this summer at a Bucks County lodging property. Valued at $450 and intended for a future stay, each package includes a $150 dining gift certificate, an overnight stay at the Golden Plough Inn, and breakfast for two.

The giveaway program will run from June through August, with two winners selected at random each month. The gift certificates will be valid for one year.

“Stories in Sand,” which begins today and continues through the end of August, showcases six sand sculptures created by three master sand sculptors. The sculptures, located throughout the scenic Village, will pay homage to classic books and characters, including “Peter Pan,” “The Jungle Book,” “Winnie-the-Pooh,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Mother Goose stories,” and “Brothers Grimm” fairy tales.

From June 1 through Aug. 31, members of the public who book an overnight stay at a Bucks County lodging property, including hotels, inns, and bed and breakfasts, may enter to win an overnight stay at the Golden Plough Inn, located at Peddler’s Village, breakfast for two at Buttonwood Grill, and a $150 dining gift certificate valid at Village-owned restaurants. The entry form, official promotion rules, and details can be found on the Peddler’s Village website.

The three sculptor teams involved in the project are: the Sand Sculpture Company, led by Ted Seibert; Team Sandtastic; and John Gowdy and Laura Gowdy. All of the sand sculptures are expected to be completed by June 9.

On Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Peddler’s Village will present a “Stories in Sand” Kickoff Weekend that will include live beach-themed musical performances by The Big Chill, Barefoot Bobby and the Breakers, and Plenty of Pepper Trio; outdoor food and drinks; family activities; pony rides; and more. Admission and parking are free. On select Saturdays throughout the summer, children can enjoy Saturday Storytime presented at 11 a.m. by Peddler’s Village shops.
