Wawa opening newest Bucks location just beyond Doylestown limits

Posted

It’s safe to say that Super Wawas now – almost – bookend Doylestown.

While the latest convenience store and gas station at 3659 N. Easton Road is technically in Buckingham Township, it’s not far from Doylestown.

Thursday, the latest Super Wawa, with its 12 gas pumps and more than 5,000-square-foot store, opens its doors, after years of controversy over the sprawling project that required the redesign of Swamp and Old Easton roads, at the rear of the property.

Two years ago, a Super Wawa opened at the gateway to the borough on South Main Street. Dubbed a “Doylestown Wawa,” due to its clock tower and stone knee walls that hold Mercer tiles, the approximately 4,000-square-foot store replaced a much smaller Wawa just a short distance down South Main Street.

The North Easton Road store is the chain’s newest location in Bucks County. The general manager and “local notables” will be on hand to welcome the store’s first customers, said Wawa, in a statement.

The store is scheduled to open at 8 a.m. with a “countdown” beginning at 7:45 a.m.

“The ceremonial start gives a nod to the power of positivity and kindness that naturally occurs when Wawa customers hold the door for one another, celebrating a gesture that happens thousands of time a day at Wawa stores and makes everyone feel welcomed and appreciated,” a spokesperson said.

The first 100 customers will get a free t-shirt and all customers will get free coffee on opening day.

Local first responders are invited to see who can make the most hoagies in three minutes.
