TileWorks to celebrate founder Henry C. Mercer’s birthday

Posted

TileWorks is celebrating the 167th birthday of its founder, Henry C. Mercer, from 2 to 4 p.m. June 23, at the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in the courtyard.

Masters of the Skies will hold a meet and greet with two of their trained majestic birds of prey and provide an opportunity to learn more about falconry. All are invited to this family-friendly birthday party with feathered friends.

Henry Mercer created a tile called “The Falconer,” obtaining the design from London’s Society of Antiquaries in the 1900s. Inspired by medieval tile designs, he created his own version of the tile, which is now available in the Tile Works shop and on its website.
