Weather turns Bucks County “Night Out” into another night in

Posted

Expected bad weather has forced the cancellation of most of Tuesday’s local National Night Out events.

National Night Out promotes partnerships between first responders and community members through fun events for children, K-9 demonstrations, presentations about the work of first responders and hands-on opportunities with fire trucks, police cars and helicopters.

Word of the Night Out rainouts began trickling in Monday morning.

“We sincerely appreciate the support and we look forward to seeing you next year,” read an 11:30 a.m. announcement on the Buckingham Township Police Department Facebook page. “Please save the date for Tuesday, August 5, 2025.”

Moments later the Doylestown Township Police Department announced, “with great disappointment,” its cancellation on its Crimewatch page. The announcement noted there was no rain date.

An hour later, Solebury Township Police followed suit but indicated it planned to announce a rescheduled date in September.

Falls Township announced Monday afternoon that it was moving the community event to Tuesday Aug. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Falls Township Community Park.

Some towns, including Warminster and Quakertown, had not yet announced cancellations as of 3 p.m. Monday.
