Garden center can now repair, sell mowers, small engine equipment

Posted

Looks like there’ll be a new place to get your lawnmower tuned up and fixed in Wrightstown – or to buy a new one if necessary.

In a recent public meeting, the Wrightstown Board of Supervisors granted conditional use approval to Marrazzo’s Manor Lane Florist to offer small equipment engine repair at its garden center, which is on Durham Road/Route 413 at the Shoppes at Wrightstown.

The business also received approval to sell small engine equipment, such as push mowers, riding mowers of limited size and weed whackers, at the site. There’ll be no sale or repair of large equipment, such as farm tractors.

The repair work will occur in what owner Mike Marrazzo described as a 900-square-foot shed that’s located behind the 6,000-square-foot garden center.

The shed is enclosed by a fence and there’ll be plantings to provide further buffering. Mended mowers and the like could be stored outside in the enclosed area as they await pick-up from customers.

Marrazzo told supervisors that folks won’t be able to see the equipment/repair operation from the parking lot or from Route 413.

Meanwhile, Marrazzo said that the retail/display of mowers and other small equipment will occur in a corner of the greenhouse. Expect to see some Stihl equipment. Responding to questions from supervisors, Marrazzo said the nursery has arranged with a service provider to have any fuel used in operations to be responsibly removed from the site and taken care of as necessary.

Despite the repair and sale of machinery, the primary focus of the business will remain being a nursery that specializes in providing plants, shrubs and trees, Marrazzo said. In addition to the nursery and floral arrangements, Marrazzo’s also offers landscaping.

Marrazzo’s is a local family-run operation that dates to 1947, when Dan Marrazzo founded the business at his home on Manor Lane in Morrisville when he was just 15.

In other news, Wrightstown Community Day will be held at the Middletown Grange Fairground from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20. The event will include a yard sale.
